Convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell Allegedly Seeking Clemency, Insider Claims to Congressional Democrats

Per new allegations from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, now completing a 20-year prison term for sex-trafficking crimes, is allegedly readying a commutation application for review by the presidential administration.

Preferential Handling Alleged at Federal Prison

Congressional Democrats on the judicial oversight panel announced that a whistleblower provided evidence indicating the inmate is working on the clemency petition. They also stated she has been given preferential conditions at the federal prison camp in the Lone Star State.

Representative Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the House judiciary committee, stated in a news release that the facility's chief was “helping” the convict with document preparation and submission to aid her effort for executive mercy.

Specific details of the “commutation application” are unclear, the congressman noted.

Alleged Privileges and Special Accommodations

Raskin states that, according to the whistleblower, the prisoner has been receiving “customized” meals that are “personally delivered” to her cell, and the warden has individually organized exclusive visits for her and her guests.

The visits reportedly involve a designated private space for visitors and a variety of food and drinks for her guests.

Those visiting Maxwell were also reportedly permitted to carry electronic devices, which the congressman characterized as an exceptional measure given the security risk and potential for unsupervised contact.

Reportedly on one occasion, when phone lines went down for other prisoners, she was given specific instructions about instructing her contacts to call and how personnel would connect the communication to her.

Supervisor Acting as Assistant

The whistleblower further reportedly told congressional members that when Maxwell wanted to review and edit documents promptly, she “essentially used” the official as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The news release states that those writing to her would email documents directly to the warden, who would provide them to the inmate, who would review and edit them and return them to the official to digitize and send to the initial correspondent.

Additional Privileges Reported

Other privileges reportedly provided to her include time to “play with” a service dog puppy – a perk not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as exclusive nighttime use to the prison exercise area.

Her legal counsel has not yet replied to a inquiry regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

Through a spokesperson, the White House said that it “will not discuss” on potential clemency requests.

“Per the President's remarks, granting clemency to Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has thought about,” the representative noted.

Recent Background

Over the weekend, reports surfaced that she told close associates in electronic messages that she was more content at the Texas facility than her former location.

In August, she was transferred from a low-security prison in Florida's capital to the less restrictive prison in the state, where most inmates are incarcerated for financial and non-violent crimes.

The transfer, which authorities called as “unprecedented”, occurred just shortly following she was questioned about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the deputy attorney general, Todd Blanche, who also once acted as Donald Trump's private attorney.

That interview came as the administration was facing mounting pressure to disclose additional files related to the ongoing probe and amid intense speculation around Trump's own connections to the fallen billionaire and convicted sex offender, who was found dead in a New York jail in that year while awaiting prosecution on trafficking accusations.

Congressional Response

In the news release, the congressman also revealed that he had sent a letter to Trump, requesting explanations about the whistleblower’s allegations, and called on the president to reject the clemency appeal.

“It would be inappropriate to approve any form of clemency to this adjudicated and remorseless criminal,” Raskin wrote in the document. “Your Administration should not be providing her with personal amenities, with puppies to play with, with federal law enforcement officials waiting on her every need, or with any preferential handling or facility benefit at all.”

Raskin requested that the official attend a open legislative session to discuss the revelations and also posed three questions to the President.

He inquired whether he had talked about a potential commutation for Maxwell with the official or others, whether he had instructed Blanche or anyone else to arrange her with the move or special conditions in detention, and whether Maxwell, her lawyers, family or agents have made any commitments to Trump or his legal team.

Raskin has asked for a response to the questions by the specified date.

Last month, the US supreme court declined to hear an petition from Maxwell on her sex-trafficking conviction.
